The history and evolution of e-commerce

E-commerce has become an integrate part in our live. There have been several key steps in history of e-commerce. The first step came from development of the Electronic Data Interchange ( EDI) and Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) which enable businesses to send comercial documents like purchases order or invoices electronically. The growth and acceptance of credit cards, automated teller machines (ATM) and telephone banking in the 1980s were also forms of electronic commerce. Another form of e-commerce was the airline reservation system typified by AirAsia and Mas Airlines in Malaysia. Online shopping which invented by Michael Aldrich in 1979 and during the 1980s it was use extensively particularly by auto manufactures such as Ford, Peugeot-Talbot, General Motors and Nissan. From the 1990s onwards, electronic commerce would additionally include enterprise resources planning system (ERP), data mining and data warehousing.

The e-commerce as started in 1991 while it available for commercial use when most of the user begin searching and participating in the World Wide Web (WWW). In the year 1999, the internet emphasis of e-commerce from B2C to B2B, however it was changed in 2001 from B2B to B2E. The rise of the e-business, e-learning, e-marketing, e-goverment are also one part of the electronic evolution. The most famous companies which applied e-commerce are Amazon.com.Inc and Ebay. Consumer can buy and sell products via internet. Meanwhile, there was also a lot of companies attempt to make their business as e-commerce but end up with failure, for example, Webvan.com, eToys, Xpeditor and others.
